A line graph is also called as a line plot or a line chart, which connects the various individual data points by using lines to create a graphical depiction of changes in values over a particular time period.
It shows the numerical values for a specified time interval used in financial sector to represent the historical cost action of an asset or security.
Types of Line Graphs
In this graph, only one dependent variable is tracked, so that there is only a single line which is connecting all data points relate to the same item on the graph to track the changes of that variable over a time period.
In a multiple line graph, more than one dependent variable is plotted over a single independent variable (often time).
Each line relates to only one point in its given data item.
This not only informs users of the relationship between each of the variables, but it informs of how the total changes as well.
Which helps us to know the variation of values of all multiple variables time to time.
Directions: Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below.
The following line chart gives information about the number of students studying various courses from three different universities.
What is the ratio between the total number of students studying MBA from all three universities together and the total number of students studying B.Sc. from all three universities together?
A) 13 : 20 B) 20 : 13 C) 15 : 17 D) 17 : 15 E) None of the above
SOLUTION
The total number of students studying MBA from all three universities
= 170 + 100 + 120 = 390
he total number of students studying B.Sc. from all three universities
= 200 + 240 + 160 = 600
Therefore, required ratio = 390 : 600 = 13 : 20
